A Bolton GP has acquired an ‘outstanding’ report from the CQC and will now host workshops with an MP to discuss housing needs for patients.
Bolton General Practice, part of SSP Health, welcomed MP for Bolton North East, Mark Logan to the practice.
Mr Logan is set to address housing and social needs at the surgery regularly, where intervention from an MP may be needed for patients.
He said: “Great to visit Bolton General Practice. The passionate staff run far more than just a general practice, it's clear they routinely go the extra mile, taking on casework and offer more than just medical advice to the local community.
“Hosting a joint surgery is a great way of joining the dots. Readers can get in touch with me via phone 01204 859 326 or email mark.logan.mp@parliament.uk to find out more.”
Bolton Council have recently teamed up with AGE UK on a project called The Helpful House, where vulnerable adults can have access to try home support equipment including digital aides.
Mr Logan hopes to further help vulnerable patients if they discover a need that cannot be met without MP intervention.
Vicki Hoinville, Practice Manager at Bolton General Practice said: “The Bolton area has some of the most ‘at risk and vulnerable communities’ in the UK, so a big part of what we do is ensuring that we offer enhanced care to them through a number of initiatives that set us aside from other practices.
“We offer welfare chats with the most lonely and isolated in our community, the ability to be seen at any of our five practices across Bolton, multilingual staff to help with patient communication and Saturday opening.”
The Bolton General Practice already has its own support in place and will work with Mr Logan.
Jane Wallace, Bolton Area Manager for SSP Health said of the visit: “This is a tremendous achievement for the team at Bolton General Practice and deserved recognition for all their hard work.
“The team is passionate about patient care and it’s no surprise to see them achieve an outstanding CQC rating. Our aim is always to provide the best care possible for our patients and this clearly shows we are achieving that.”
