A serious accident closed a major road near Bolton, causing delays and diversions.
The A6 Manchester Road East in Walkden was closed in both directions after what has been described as a serious accident took place at around 9pm on Sunday evening.
The road has now been reopened, with travel data company Inrix reporting the reopening as having taken place at around 2:55pm.
The road had been closed from Bridgewater Street to Hilton Lane, near the New Albion pub.
Reports stated that the road was likely to be closed all morning, with traffic being slow as a result.

It was said that the road was closed due to accident investigation work.
A spokesperson from Stagecoach Greater Manchester said that their Route 38 bus has been diverted via Bolton Road in Walkden due to the police incident on Manchester Road East.
The emergency services have been contacted for comment.
