A chef who started a Middle Eastern takeaway from her flat during lockdown is planning to roll out a series of supper clubs.
Ness Cohen, founder of Dinner by Ness, which runs from her flat in Ramsbottom, honed her craft cooking at ski chalets in the French Alps and teaching at high school level.
She will now be hosting a series of supper clubs across Ramsbottom and Prestwich, having held the inaugural event at Grape to Grain’s Bridge Street wine bar on Thursday, June 9.
Opening the first event, Ms Cohen said: “It’s pan Mediterranean, there’s 21 countries in the Mediterranean which has allowed me to pick from all of those which is a plethora of amazing cuisines.
“So you’ll seen now on the menu that there’s dishes from all these different countries which hopefully will remind us of summery times.”
Hosting evenings like these comes naturally to Ms Cohen, who says she has “cooking in her blood” after growing up with parents who had restaurants and who draws upon her Israeli heritage for culinary inspiration.
Ness Cohen first started her takeaway business from her flat in Ramsbottom during lockdown
Her this background also includes cheffing in backcountry lodges in the Canadian Rockies and hosting supper clubs across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and further afield to Bristol and Weston Super Mare.
Having begun her Middle Easter takeaway business when lockdown was keeping people away from restaurants, Ms Cohen hopes that now she will have the opportunity to take her culinary skills to a wider audience.
A range of Mediterranean dishes are on offer
She also intends to trial a range of different Mediterranean dishes.
Further Dinner by Ness supper clubs will now be held at the Grape to Grain in Ramsbottom on June 23 and July 7 and at its Prestwich branch on June 29 and July 13, with tickets priced at £48 per person.
The Ramsbottom chef will be preparing a series of four course meals
The events will feature a blend of Mediterranean cuisines over a four-course meal with wine pairings.
Another supper club will also be held at the Dog House Music Bar, also in Ramsbottom, which will feature a starter, main course and petite-four accompanied by a Frank Sinatra tribute act.
Tickets for the Dog House Music Bar event will go on sale at a later date, costing £32 per person.
