A resident has shared his "disgust" after spotting rubbish lining the streets in areas of Halliwell.
Michael, aged 61, who has lived in the area for the last 25 years, says fly-tipping has been getting worse recently.
He said: “I’ve lived here for 25 years, but in the last 10 years it’s just been going downhill, people’s habits are disgusting.
“People used to go out and clean outside their own home.”
While on his morning commute on Tuesday, Michael was aghast at the state of some of the streets in his area, so he decided to take some pictures and videos.
He said: “I went to work this morning at around half past five.
"As I was going to work, I looked down the street and thought 'oh my God'. I got back out and decided to go up and down the block and take some photographs.
“There was people’s rubbish in the streets and fly tipping.”
A video shows Michael cycling up Back Raphael Street which had rubbish strewn all over it, including a tyre, old carpet, pieces of wood and even a discarded stair spindle.
He voiced his concern as to what impact the fly tipping would have on children at nearby schools.
“They stink as well and it’s across the road from two schools.
“It doesn’t send a good message to the children, they’ll see that and think if adults are doing it why can’t we do it.”
In response, a spokesperson for Bolton Council said: “The enforcement team are due to be in the area tomorrow (Wednesday) where they we will engaging with residents and reminding them of their legal obligation to dispose of their own waste responsibly.
“This will be followed by street cleansing of the affected areas which is scheduled for Thursday.”
