Mindless yobs vandalised a recently restored decorative stone circle in a popular park.
Eggs, flour and other ingredients were chucked at the piece in Egerton Park, leaving volunteers upset.
Epic Egerton Improvement Committee paid for and restored the stone circle in just over two weeks ago and their hard work has already been ruined.
The group said someone had 'dumped their supermarket shopping' in the centre of the circle.
Spring Green Garden Services worked on the piece - and just two weeks later the beautiful flowers were covered in eggs, flour, sauces and much more.
Cllr Samantha Connor, Vice Chair of Epic Egerton, said it is extremely upsetting to see the damage when the work is carried out by volunteer committee members.
She said: "We were alerted by a resident adjacent to Egerton Park that the newly refurbished stone circle area had been vandalised.
"An Epic committee member and volunteers attended to clean up the area.
"Cable ties were found near to the flagpole and an abundance of food items such as eggs, flour, sauces, etc.
"The area was completely covered and sadly the newly planted flowers had to be taken out.
"It is extremely upsetting as the work carried out is done by voluntary committee members.
"There were reports of several cars speeding with groups of young males.
"It wasn’t fly tipping, we think it seems like a stag do, with the cable times and all the food.
"It is distressing to us all and the community as we look after the park and have invested a lot of time and money.
"This has been the first act of vandalism to our park and it is heartbreaking."
Residents responded to the social media post of the vandalism, sharing their upset and anger.
Most said they are 'ashamed', 'disgusted' and that the vandalism is 'disrespectful'.
A spokesperson for Bolton Council said: “The council did not receive any reports of the vandalism at Egerton Park.
“It’s disappointing to see areas of our green spaces blighted by mindless vandalism and littering.”
