A woman was viciously pushed to the ground and bitten on the chin in a church car park last Sunday, with an investigation now underway.
Gabriela Carlos de Medina Sousa Cordeiro, who there with her two children and two Godchildren, was attacked while in the car park of the St Thomas Church, which she regularly attends, off Gisburn Street just to the north of Doffcocker.
Caught completely unawares, she was pushed to the ground by another woman who then bit her on the chin beat her and broke her glasses, leaving Mrs Cordeiro with a severe wound that needed to be treated in hospital.
Husband Pedro said: “This all happened when my wife went to church, its bad, really bad.
“She broke her glasses and beat her, it was like she was beaten like a dog.”
He added: “My wife’s chin is all like meat now.”

Photographs supplied by Mr Cordeiro show the extent of his wife’s injuries with a huge mark bitten out of her chin, while a video, also supplied by Mr Cordeiro shows that aftermath of the attack.
Police were called to the scene at around 11.15am that morning with an ambulance and paramedics also rushed to the scene.
Mrs Cordeiro was taken away in the ambulance to Royal Bolton Hospital where she was treated for her wounds.
As yet the identity of the assailant remains unknown but members of the public who may have witnesses the attack or who may know anything about it or the people involved have been urged to come forward.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that their officers were called and that they are now investigating the incident.

A spokesperson said: “I can confirm it was reported to us shortly after 11.15am on Sunday June 5 that a woman was pushed to the ground before being bitten and assaulted by a woman.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
