Police are appealing for witnesses after vandals destroyed a popular miniature railway in Bolton.
Yobs struck at Moss Bank Park overnight last Thursday, ripping up the tracks and trashing the storage was targeted causing around £20,000 of damage.
The attraction had only just reopened to visitors.
Now police say they are investigating the vandalism and are appealing for witnesses.
A GMP spokesperson said: “I can confirm that this was reported to us and anyone with information should contact us online via our LiveChat facility, if able, or by calling 101 quoting incident 1190 of 03/06/2022.
“Details can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Despite the wreckage caused, a group of 15 volunteers have vowed to restore the site and open it once more.
The railway, which had reopened to guests around eight weeks ago, was a mile in length.
But following the damage done by vandals there is only 20 feet left.
Volunteers had worked throughout the pandemic to restore the site.
The weekend before the devastation there were 300 visitors in attendance.
Tracey Stirling, the secretary of the Moss Bank Park Model Engineering Society, said: “It is soul destroying.
“They worked through Covid, they worked through the cold to get it done.
“There is probably about £20,000 of damage.
“It is not just about the money.
“We had 300 people come round last week.”
