LADYBRIDGE Primary School held a Jubilee-themed bake-off.
Pupils at the school submitted a total of 45 entries to the competition modelled on the popular TV show.
Each was examined by four guest judges in an hour-long deliberation and, after the winners had been announced, the cakes were sold.
The school raised over £250 to support British adventurer's James Ketchell’s mission to cross the world’s largest island, Greenland, on skis to raise money for Kindled Spirits - a charity that aims to empower young women through education and skills training throughout the world.
James visited the school last year to tell them all about his work and the students enjoyed meeting him so much that they were keen to get involved.
The judges comprised of Bethany Cooney from Betsy’s Pantry, Helen Langford from Warburtons, Joe Conway from Bolton Wanderers in the Community and Sonia Karisma from The Baking Club.
Personal development lead at the school, Emma Walsh, said: “The day was a huge success.
“It was a great way to bring the whole school together and start the celebrations for the Queen's Jubilee.
“We were so proud of every child who entered the competition, and the amount of thought, dedication and creativity that went into every cake.
The judges really made the day special, and they created a buzz around the school. It was lovely to connect with local bakers, and companies, in our community."
Joe said: “It was clear to see the time, effort and love the children of Ladybridge Primary put into their entries and they certainly exceeded my expectations. I hope that Bolton Wanderers in the Community can attend more events like this in the future.”
Bethany added: "It was an extremely hard decision to help choose the winners of the Jubilee cupcakes, as all the children did amazingly well.
“All looked and smelled amazing, and if I could, all of the cupcakes would have been winners.”
Sonia said: "I was blown away by the effort and skill that was put into all of the cakes.
"It was a pleasure to be a part of the Ladybride Primary School's first bake off."
The school spoke to James to tell them about the event and how much they have raised.
A message on his behalf was sent stating: "Congratulations that is amazing. James would have loved to see this.
“Thank you on behalf of him from James in Greenland."
