POLICE have been conducting speed checks in and around Bolton following complaints by concerned residents.
Officers said they pulled up multiple motorists as they enforced the speed limit and spoke to them about the dangers of driving at high speed.
The speed checks are part of the long running Operation Portman, which was launched in response to the number of collisions and fatalities on Bolton's roads.
Over the weekend, police officers and Special officers, targeted the Ladybridge area, The Haulgh, Salford Road in Over Hulton and Ramsbottom.
A spokesman for the neighbourhood policing team said: "The Rumworth neighbourhood team have completed speeding checks around Ladybridge following residents reporting vehicles driving at high speeds. Multiple vehicles were stopped and further checks were completed.
A spokesman for GMP Bury North added: "Our GMP Specials teamed up with local neighbourhood officers enforcing speed limits and educating drivers around road safety
"Thanks to the local residents who've come out thanking us with support."
The crackdown is part of Operation Portman, which was launched launched in response to concerns over the number of serious road incidents in the town.
Hundreds of drivers have been reported for different alleged driving offences since the launch of the operation more than 12 months ago.
To help them catch speeding drivers, officers have acquired two laser devices to record speeding vehicles.
Officers said that the operation has resulted in a huge reduction in serious injuries in Bolton.
