Are you looking to celebrate her Majesty the Queen on the Platinum Jubilee weekend?

Well, here is a roundup of the events happening across the borough over the bank holiday.

The council have many events planned over the course of the weekend.

On Friday, June 3, there will be a Decades of Music concert with top tribute bands attending, filling the day with hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s.

Tribute acts will include The Beatles, Elton John, The Who and Quadraphenia, Boy George, Little Mix, The Spice Girls, Park Life – the sound of Britpop and Amy Winehouse.

This event will start at noon until 10pm on Victoria Square.

On Saturday, June 4, there will be a tribute to the Queen with six hours of music, dance, street theatre and entertainment.

There will be music from Frankly Jazz, Starlight Swing Orchestra, Eagley Brass Band and Phoenix Knights of Harmony.

Street theatre will include The Highflyers performing on a pedal-powered flying machine, The Tea Club featuring Tilly and Trixie and a giant puppet of the Queen.

Dance and music will be performed by artists from the Bolton Hindu Forum.

This event will start at noon until 6pm on Victoria Square.

On Sunday, June 5 there will be a civic procession, starting from Bolton town hall at 2.10pm and heading to the Parish Church.

Horwich Town Council will be hosting The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend Spectacular.

There will be a fun packed three days of games and live music with a bar and food from 12pm until 6.30pm.

Activities include a 100ft bootcamp course, It’s a Knockout course, Total Wipeout course, Hungry Hippos, Jungle assault course, tug of war, adult and children’s sumo, egg and spoon race, sack race, tin can ally, coconut stile and a Jubilee Dog show.

On Thursday, June 2 events will take place at Horwich RMI Cricket Club, while on Friday, June 3 events will take place at St Marys Football Club and Saturday, June 4 events will take place at Cedar Avenue Village Green.

The events are free entry.

There will also be a community celebration at Egerton Park on Sunday, June 5 between 12 and 4.30pm.

The day will feature giant games, crafts, crown making, traditional games, food and drink stalls and a special visit from the towns Mayor and Eagley Brass Band to start celebrations.

Streets across Bolton are also hosting parties, so check with your neighbours to see if they applied for a road closure and it was accepted.
