Residents in Bolton are being invited to document a day in their lives, which will be preserved in a wide-ranging historical archive.
The project is being organised by the Mass Observation Archive and promoted by Bolton Library and Museum Services as a way of preserving a snapshot in time for future generations.
The idea comes from a famous project which was originally launched in the 1930s as a way of studying how people across the country lives.
A statement from Bolton Library and Museum Services said: “Would you like to record your day for the Mass Observation Archive?
“Mass Observation is a social research project which began in 1937, its aim was to record the everyday lives of normal people.
“Bolton and Blackpool were chosen as the towns to be scrutinised for the first ever study of this kind.
“The original records of the study are held at the University of Sussex but Bolton History Centre is one of only a few places where copies of the documents can be viewed.
“Contact us on archives@bolton.gov.uk for more information.
“You can contribute to this incredible archive by documenting your day on Thursday May 12 2022.”
More information about the project can be found on the Mass Observation Archive website.
