A primary school has been awarded Ofsted’s second highest rating, improving since its last inspection.
Ladybridge Community Primary School was graded as ‘required improvement’ in 2018, however a much-improved inspection in February this year claimed the facility a ‘good’ status.
A team led by inspectors Claire Cropper, Julie Brown and Cole Andrew, determined that students at the Broadford Road institution are “proud to belong to this school”.
The inspectors added: “They develop confidence in their own capabilities. Pupils learn to be independent. They enjoy offering each other support and guidance.
“Pupils respect different points of views and other cultures. This results in the school being a happy and harmonious community, where everyone is focused on learning.
“Pupils told inspectors, ‘It is impossible not to have friends in this school as everyone is so welcoming.’”
The report also noted the high expectations that are placed on students and the teachers plan learning that captures pupils’ interests.
“Leaders make sure that all pupils achieve well,” they said.
“Pupils and their parents and carers spoke highly of the well-thought-out support that pupils benefit from, particularly if they have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).”
The school’s curriculum was said to be “well organised and ambitions”.
“Leaders have made sure that teachers are clear about the topics that pupils should learn. In most subjects, leaders have defined the key knowledge that they want pupils to know and remember within those topics,” said the education watchdog.
Headteacher at the school, Colin Watson, said: “Everyone at Ladybridge Primary School – the pupils, staff, parents and governors - are extremely pleased and proud that Ofsted have recognised so many of the great things that take place at our school.
“The Ofsted outcome reflects everyone’s hard work and the relentless commitment to ensure all pupils receive the very best teaching and learning experiences, and all-round education and development.
“Thank you to all those that have supported us, and continued to believe in what we do, over the last four years.
“We are committed to our motto, ‘Achieving Excellence Together’, and continue to strive to achieve this every day.”
