A school where children feel happy and safe has celebrated being marked good.
Harwood Meadows Primary School has again been graded good by Ofsted.
Inspectors Steven Bentham and Kelly Eyers found that pupils have positive attitudes to their work and are aware of the high expectations staff have of the pupils.
The inspection report stated: “They enjoy the work that teachers give them. They trust the adults working in the school. Pupils feel comfortable about approaching staff and sharing any concerns that they may have.”
“Pupils are aware of the high expectations that staff set for their behaviour. They behave well.
“They told inspectors that bullying is dealt with decisively.
“Pupils respond well to rewards that tie in with the school’s values of being aspirational, resilient and kind.”
Inspectors also commented on the improvements to enhance the curriculum and actions taken to stop children from being left behind following the impact of the pandemic.
Headteacher Julian Bevan assumed his role in January 2021 having worked as a teacher there for nearly 16 years.
He said: “I am really proud of the children and staff for all the fantastic work they do to make it the amazing school that it is.
“We received a ‘good’ judgement, which we are really proud of, particularly as the criteria by which Ofsted judge schools has become increasingly challenging.
“This is an incredibly strong judgement and one that I was delighted to share with our governing board who have been extremely supportive throughout this time.
“The children were also amazing during the inspection process - they spoke with confidence and demonstrated their positive values, mutual respect towards each other and staff along with their love of learning.
“The Harwood Meadows staff have been amazing, both during the pandemic and in demonstrating their everyday work to the inspection team.
“Following the huge disruptions to school over the last two years, it is fantastic that Ofsted recognise everything we have achieved to ensure the children continue to receive high quality teaching and learning and are happy and safe in school.”
