TRIBUTES have been paid to a "funny, kind and clever" teenage boy following his death.
Aston Robinson, a sixth form student at Turton School in Bromley Cross, died on April 14.
“We are so desperately sad to lose such a wonderful student," headteacher Sam Gorse said.
“Aston was such a gorgeous, funny, kind and clever boy. His loss will leave a hole in the hearts of all the staff and students at Turton.”
Turton Tigers Football Club has also paid tribute to Aston, who was in Year 12.
In a statement, the club said: “We’re absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of one of our Tigers Aston Robinson.
“Aston played for our team for three seasons - in the last season playing for our U16’s team.
“Our heart and thoughts go out to Astons family at this time. Love always from the Tigers.”
Mark Edgar, head of the 21 junior teams at Turton Tigers, said that a donation from the club has been made to a fundraiser set up in Aston's name.
The club is looking to work with local mental health charity Whysup going forward to help their older players deal with their emotions.

Mark also said that discussions about a memorial for Aston were ongoing.
Friend of the family Kelly Boag has set up the GoFundMe page to help Aston's family through this difficult time and money raised will go towards funding a fitting memorial for the youngster.
She posted on the fundraising page: “We have created this fundraiser to help raise funds in memory of Aston Robinson to give him the send-off he deserves, so any donations are greatly appreciated by all his family and friends.
“Aston was the most loving and kind young man who was loved by so many. There are no words to describe how much he is going to be missed. We love you Aston.”
