Police officers were honoured to attend a Ramadan Iftar event at a Bolton mosque this weekend as part of a community outreach effort.
Two officers from Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Bolton South Division attended the Zakariyya Mosque on Peace Street on Saturday where they joined worshippers from the local community for an evening meal.
The event was also attended by other members of the emergency services and public services from across the borough.
A GMP spokesperson said: “PC Ali and Sergeant Richards attended Ramadan Iftar this evening at Zakariyya Mosque on Peace St, Bolton.
“It was an open invitation event to the wider community, those of other faiths or no faith to attend and observe the sunset prayer followed by an evening meal.
“It was a great opportunity to meet with and speak to members of our community.
“Also in attendance were our partners from GM Fire Service, Bolton Council and the Bolton NHS trust.
“Thank you very much from GMP to all at Zakariyya Mosque and to the Bolton Council of Mosques for your hospitality this evening, it was a fantastic event.”
This comes during the month of Ramadan, one of the holiest in the Muslim calendar marked by fasting, prayers and family events.
