A man and a woman were found dead in neighbouring flats yesterday with an investigation now underway.
The pair were found separately in the Princess Road area of Manchester on Saturday, April 23, and police officers say detectives are now investigating but as yet they cannot state the precise cause of death.
They also cannot say for sure whether the deaths are connected, but in an update issued in the early hours of this morning have been able to rule out “third party involvement".
Superintendent Mark Kenny said: "The deaths may not be connected but at this stage the precise cause of death cannot be established.
"However, we can rule out direct third-party physical involvement.
"I would like to reassure the community that there is no wider risk at this time.
"Detectives are now investigating the circumstances to ascertain the cause of death and will remain at the scene while the investigation is ongoing."
Police first attended the scene on Saturday afternoon having been called first to reports of the woman being found dead before later returning to reports of the man being discovered dead as well.
Anyone with any information can call police on 101.
