Interested in rescuing a pet animal from a shelter? Here’s five cats and dogs who are looking for a home.

The Bolton Destitute Animal Shelter deal with over 2000 animals per year, and have been around since the 1920s.

If you would be interested in rehoming one of their animals, then go to https://www.animalshelter.org.uk/ to find more information, or call 01204 526486.

Donations are also welcomed by the charity, in the form of money or gifts for the dogs, information also available on the website.

Dominic

18 month old Dominic got into a fight with a bigger tom cat, which ended up in a fang being embedded in his leg. Having undergone surgery to remove the tooth, the "loving and clean" cat has recovered well. The Destitute Animal Shelter say Dominic will need to be the only pet in the home, will probably want to go out in time and that he should be fine with older children.

Bruce

A 16 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, Bruce needs a new home.

He finds being kenneled stressful, but can be "attentive and loving" when he is comfortable. He will need to be in a home with adults only and no other pets.

A victim of bad breeding, having been diagnosed with low grade Bilateral hip dysplasia in both hips among other health issues, Bruce's adopter will have to care for these issues.

Gino

An 11-year-old cross breed, Gino likes to play and loves going for a walk.

The Destitute Animal Shelter say: "Although humans have let him down he still thinks we are great, he is very loving and loves his cuddles."

The shelter says Gino should go to a home with no other pets, and children should be over 12 years old.

Sam

The shelter describes Sam as a "great dog" who "is fun and makes you laugh."

Sam was tried in a home with another dog that he knew from walkies but it didn't work, so will need to be the only pet in a home.

He is obsessed with teddies and likes to rip them up, and is fine with children 6 years and older.

Sam will need to be kept on a lead when walked and will need someone at home most of the time.

The Bolton News: Del Boy, "as strong as he looks" is very happy and playful.Del Boy, "as strong as he looks" is very happy and playful.

Del Boy

A 6 year old cross bull breed, Del Boy is as strong as he looks, but is described as a wonderful dog who is very happy and playful.

He loves running around with his fake stick as he loves to show off. He loves to run free in a secure area rather than a walk.

He is very strong, however, so the shelter are recommending that whoever adopts him is experienced with large dogs.
