Officials are warning people to remain vigilant about fake emails which are targeting Instagram accounts.
Action Fraud, the UK's national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime, is warning residents to remain vigilant after they recieved more than 250 reports of fake emails targetting Instagram accounts.
The emails claim that someone is trying to "recover your password from Russia".
Action Fruad recieved 272 reports in one week relating to fake emails purporting to be from Instagram.
Within the emails, it states that someone from Russia is attempting to reset the reciepeint's Instagram account password
The links within the emails then lead to malicious websites that are designed to steal Instagram login details.
A spokesperson for Action Fraud said: "Have you spotted a suspicious email?
"Forward it to the suspicious email reporting service, report@phishing.gov.uk.
"If you want to check if an email from Instagram is real, head over to the "Emails from Instagram" option in the app's security settings."
