A GREENSPACE organisation in Bolton will be holding a range of activities at an Easter festival next week.

The Bolton Forum for Greenspace (BFG) will be one of many with a stall, where there will be plenty of activities at the Bolton Unity Festival.

BFG will be showcasing what its member groups do, as well as looking at encouraging more people to get involved.

Louise Bentley, group member, said: “This isn’t just about looking after what we’ve got, it is also about finding new greenspaces that can provide havens for our native wildlife, such as hedgehogs, willow tits, bees and butterflies.

“Bolton is so lucky to have a range of great spaces for people and wildlife to enjoy together but we must protect them for the generations that will come after us.”

The BFG is an alliance of small volunteer groups that aims to promote the greenspaces in Bolton for the benefit of people and wildlife.

Throughout the year hundreds of volunteers from the BFG groups help look after these healthy environmental gems from the Kingfisher trail in Farnworth, to the gravel pits at Darcy Lever, Ousel’s Nest in Bromley Cross, Eatock Lodge in Westhoughton, and Bridge Street Nature Reserve in Horwich.

BFG is an informal network that meets every month to share ideas and best practice.
