A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died .
The woman, in her 40s, died after a crash involving a silver Landrover Freelander which collided with three pedestrians on Ormskirk Road, Pemberton on the evening of Friday April 8.
Police this morning announced that Jacob Gaskell has now been charged in connection with the incident and that a second man has also been arrested and released under investigation.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Jacob Gaskell (09/04/03), of Malborough Avenue, Ince has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, whilst disqualified, whilst unlicensed/ uninsured, serious injury by dangerous driving, whilst disqualified and failing to stop.
“He has been remanded in custody until a hearing at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on Monday April 11 2022.
“At around 9.20pm on Friday 8 April 2022, we were called to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Ormskirk Road, Pemberton.
“A female pedestrian in her 40s sadly died.
“Two male pedestrians were seriously injured.
“A second male who was also arrested has been released under investigation.”
