A collection of dangerous knives was discovered in a Bolton town centre car park over the weekend.

A member of the public spotted the vicious looking blades hidden in the car park and contacted police who arrived shortly after to collect them.

Officers have today released an image of the four knives, all of which appear to be extremely dangerous.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Over the weekend a concerned member of the public spotted these weapons hidden in carpark in Bolton town centre.

“They immediately contacted the police who attended and collected them.

“Unfortunately, this is becoming a regular occurrence and Greater Manchester Police would advise anyone who finds any items similar please contact us.”

This comes after several recent high-profile cases of knife crime in the borough, with police having authorised the use of special powers last month in anticipation of further trouble.

Efforts to tackle knife crime in Bolton have included increased stop-and-search powers, knife amnesty bins and educational sessions for young people to teach them about the dangers of these kinds of offences.

Anyone concerned about knife crime in their community can contact GMP via gmp.police.uk or by calling 101.

In an emergency, members of the public should call 999.
