A Bolton schoolboy has raised over £350 for victims of the Ukraine crisis.

Isaac Haslam, 12, from Little Lever, is known for his fundraising having supported other causes in the past.

He was helped to bake the cakes by his friend, Poppy Jones, 11, from Little Lever, who also helped him sell them on the day.

The bake sale raised £365 for charity and the community got behind the two of them.

Isaac’s aunty, Natalie Cardwell, said the sale was a real success: “Lots of people turned up. I think the community wanted to get behind them.”

It was so successful that they ran out of cakes: “Hundreds were made, but we’d ran out by 2pm! We had to go and buy more cakes to keep it going.”

Local businesses rallied behind Isaac too, with Auntie Nellie’s florist in Little Lever donating some prizes to be raffled, Danielle Roach of OYB Balloons donated balloon displays and a local dance studio donated vouchers.

The schoolboy had previously organised two charity events, a 30-mile bike ride in aid of Bolton Hospice last year and even a stall selling toys for Children in Need when he was 9 years old.

According to his aunty, the Ukraine crisis was affecting Isaac: “He said there are children his age with nowhere to go who need help.”
