A WOMAN has been left devastated after thieves stole her Range Rover which was filled with toys to donate to children.

Sobia Rana, who lives in Bolton, had parked to go to B&M Bargains on Manchester Road on Tuesday for just 15 minutes.

The theft of her Range Rover is the latest in a series of thefts targeting the make of vehicle.

The toys in the care were to be donated to a mosque for women praying in Ramadan.

The toys were to go to Imaan Masjid on Bridgeman Street to keep children occupied.

Children were looking forward to playing with the toys.

Sobia said: “I do charity work for local madrassah’s in Bolton. Ramadan is around the corner and a lot of mums wanted to bring their children to the masjid as they prayed taraweeh prayer.

“But there were no toys for the kids to play with as they waited so I had some donated, but now my car has been stolen.”

Sobia  had parked up to go into B&M with her son to get some arts and crafts material for a children’s Ramadan activity class.

After the car had been stolen, she spoke to a driver nearby who managed to take this picture

She said: “I am just so shocked and saddened that anyone would do this, especially a few days before Ramadan is due to start.

“Who would do something like this? I really can’t believe it. I haven’t the heart to tell the masjid either because it would be so disappointing, especially when I had told so many people about the toys.”

This is just one incident in many now as police are getting reports of stolen Range Rovers in and around Bolton.

Bolton and Bury hit by wave of 'brazen' Range Rover thefts

In March it was reported a car had been taken from a driveway on Watling Street in Affetside as well as others in Egerton, Greenmount, Fairfield, Ainsworth and further afield in Norden, near Rochdale.

Sobia said: I heard about the Range Rovers being stolen lately just a few days ago before my own was taken.

“I just wish these people would understand I was trying to do a good thing and they just stole my car and it’s probably scrapped somewhere.

“I do all of this on my own for the kids and had spoken to somebody at the mosque who mentioned that the mums had said it would be nice if the kids had some toys to play with as they were there.”

The car also holds sentimental value for Sobia as it was a gift from her husband.

The Bolton News approached Greater Manchester Police for a comment.
