THE Great Lawn at the historic Rivington Terraced Gardens will be the stunning setting for the first BBC Philharmonic Orchestra Proms in the Park concert of the season - introduced by Bolton's Mark Radcliffe.
Musicians from the orchestra's brass ensemble will perform a programme of popular classics, show tunes and medleys.
The evening is set to 'dazzle and entertain with music suitable for a relaxed summer evening'.
Mark, who is an acclaimed BBC radio broadcaster, told The Bolton News: "I'm so delighted to welcome the brilliant musicians from the BBC Philharmonic to the Terraced Gardens.
“I cherish Rivington as the adventure playground of my youth and so it's wonderful to be involved with the great work going on there.
“In particular I've been trying to organise some music events in association with the trust's Richard Galloway and we're thrilled that my BBC colleagues have agreed to come and play for us.”
He added: “It will be wonderful music in a wonderful setting so please everyone - come and enjoy whilst contributing to the maintenance of this historic site.”
A spokesman for Rivington Heritage Trust said: "Bring you own blanket or chairs and relax to a 10-piece brass ensemble, introduced by the dulcet tones of our patron and your host for the evening, Mark Radcliffe.
"We have a cocktail bar and a selection of fantastic vendors offering food and cakes."
Rivington Terraced Gardens, the home of Lord Leverhulme, have been restored thanks to lottery funding. Money raised will go towards maintaining them for future generations.
The event takes place on Friday, May 27.
Tickets to the event are £19.50 for an adult or £9.50 for a child.
There will be refreshments on the night including a cocktail bar.
