Bolton is one of the cheapest place to buy a family home near an ‘outstanding’ school, according to a national law firm.

Parents can buy a three-bedroom property in the same postcode area as St Peter’s CofE Primary School on Alexandra Street in Bolton for just £160,000 on average, Simpson Miller reveals.

St Peter’s CofE Primary School in Farnworth was last inspected by Ofsted in September 2021, receiving an ‘Outstanding’ rating.

Bolton came in seventh place in the table, where average family homes sell for £160k, while Bradford was named the cheapest.

Sarah Woosey, Education Solicitor at Simpson Millar said: “Living close to a good school is often key for securing a place and some go to extreme lengths to secure a place at an appropriate school, but there is no steadfast way to ensure you get your child into a top school. “

The average price of a home in the catchment area of any Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated primary and secondary school in England is £380,824, which is 49% more than the current national average.

In contrast, Camden in London is the most expensive place to buy, where prices average £925,000.
