A van driver has been reported to court after police say he was found to have been travelling without a licence.
Police say that on Thursday afternoon they were called to Dicconson Lane in Westhoughton following reports that a man was driving with no licence.
On arriving at the scene, they stopped a man driving a Mercedes Vito and found he had been travelling on an expired licence with no valid insurance and that he had already been given a warning for a dangerous modification to his vehicle.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “A Mercedes Vito was stopped by the SRT Tasking Team on Dicconson Lane Westhoughton after several reports about the male driving with no licence.
“It was found to have a expired PLH, no valid insurance and the vehicle subject to PG9 for a dangerous modification.
“The van was seized and the driver reported to court.”
This comes following several recent cases reported by police across Bolton of drivers being stopped for various offences.
Officers have urged anyone with any information or concerns about anti-social driving in their communities to call 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
