MEMBERS of the Bolton Ukrainian Cultural Society Centre had a smile on their face when they arrived to the centre to see handmade dolls in the Ukraine colours left by the door.

A blue and yellow crochet heart was left on the doorknob while two little dolls were left on the steps, each holding a little sign stating ‘peace, love, ukraine.’

Bolton Ukrainian Cultural Society Centre posted on social media: “We found these lovely little knitted people on our doorstep this morning. They have made us smile and we will take good care of them.”

They were made and left by a creative company called Anwacky, which often display their political protests and social advocacies through crochet creativity.

The centre has been helped massively over the last few weeks with various ways to raise money.

With vigils and prayers and a hugely successful supplies donation when they put out a call.

A spokesman for the centre said: “The response to our collection on March 3 could not have been more impressive - the people of Bolton and surrounding areas we can’t thank you enough.”

But supporters are not currently accepting more supplies and instead ask for monetary donations be made to the centre or to other funds.
