POLICE have been on patrol outside a primary school this morning to tackle irresponsible parking by parents.
Officers with the Radcliffe neighbourhood team were at Cams Lane Primary School warning drivers of particularly those stationed on double yellow lines and school road markings.
Parents are being asked to park safely and walk their children the short distance to school.
Police said they were at the school following concerns from members of the public about traffic issues in the Harper Fold Road area.
And are working with the council to put in a long-term solution to the parking issues experienced
A spokesman for GMP Bury South said: "We have been discussing local issues and parking concerns with members of the public, in order to build public trust and confidence in neighbourhood policing. The team have been warning drivers of their parking, especially when it contravenes the double yellow-lines and school road markings.
"This deployment is a result of concerns made by local residents and parents, who are understandably concerned about the safety of the children crossing the busy road.
"Whilst most drivers have listened to our words of advice, we would like to remind parents to please park away from the bend in the road, and walk down to the school, as to maximise visibility for everyone present.
"We will be liaising with the council and school going forward, to ensure that a long-term solution is sought after."
