A MAN was arrested this morning at a train station after a 40-year-old man was stabbed last night.
Police were at Daisy Hill Train Station in Westhoughton after an incident in Blakemore Park, a residential area in Atherton.
Passers-by reported a huge police presence at the station.
Officers have arrested two people in connection with the incident.
Police have also launched an appeal for information and are urging witnesses to come forward.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: " "Police were called around 8.50pm to a report of a stabbing on Blakemore Park, Atherton.
"Emergency services attended and enquiries established a 40-year-old man had been stabbed.
"He was taken to hospital but thankfully his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
"A man and a woman have both been arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery, they remain in custody for questioning.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
