THREE people from Bolton have recently been before the courts for driving at more than 25mph over the speed limit – but none were banned from the roads.

The maximum speed which motorists are allowed to drive at on certain roads in the UK is 70mph.

But the following people from Bolton have recently been penalised for flagrant disregard for this rule.

Aitsham Ali drove at 101mph on the M60 when travelling in a clockwise direction in Salford.

The 30-year-old was driving a Toyota during the incident in June last year.

He admitted the offence at Tameside Magistrates’ Court last month.

Ali, whose address was given as Spa Road in Bolton, was hit with a fine of £120.

He was also given six points on licence.

The court took his plea into account when determining the sentence.

Shane Rhodes drove at 99mph when travelling westbound on the M62 at Rochdale.

The 33-year-old was driving a Vauxhall during the incident in May last year.

The case against him was proved in Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court in December last year.

Following the outcome Rhodes, from St Georges Road in Bolton, was fined £440.

He was also given six points on his licence.

Chris Williams drove at 98mph on the M62 Westbound in Rochdale in May last year.

He was driving a Vauxhall at the time.

The 33-year-old admitted the offence at Manchester and Salford and Magistrates’ Court in December last year.

Williams, from Tudor Avenue in Farnworth, was hit with a fine of £248.

He was also given six points on his licence.

The court took his guilty plea into account when determining the sentence to impose.
