WANDERERS were busy in the January transfer window, bringing in seven fresh faces as they aim to climb the League One table.
Dion Charles, Aaron Morley, Marlon Fossey and James Trafford have all made a big impact in recent weeks.
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Kieran Sadlier have also strengthened Ian Evatt’s squad, while Kyle Dempsey is also waiting in the wings following his deadline day move from Gillingham.
There have also some interesting deals involving former Bolton players over the past month. Here are five eye-catching moves.
Nat Phillips
Former Wanderers youngster Nat Phillips joined promotion-chasing Bournemouth on loan on deadline day.
The defender heads to the south coast in search of regular playing time, having made just three appearances for Liverpool this season.
He had also been linked with Watford, Newcastle and West Ham during the January window after impressing for the Reds last term.
Phillips spent time in the Whites’ youth ranks before heading to Merseyside in 2016 and returned to the UniBol in a Papa John’s Trophy tie earlier this season.
He will be hoping to make an impact at the Vitality Stadium as Scott Parker’s men aim to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
Billy Crellin
Billy Crellin made a shock move to Everton on deadline day, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison Park.
The goalkeeper – who has represented England at Under-20 level - made 16 appearances for Wanderers last term while on loan from Fleetwood.
However, Crellin’s time at the UniBol didn’t go to plan and he didn’t feature at all in the second half of the season.
The Toffees were initially linked with the youngster back in 2019 and he will now be part of their Under-23 squad.
Liam Feeney
Liam Feeney left Tranmere to join Scunthorpe last week - reuniting with former Bolton boss Keith Hill, who he played under at Prenton Park.
The midfielder initially joined the Whites on loan from Millwall in 2013 and later signed a permanent deal at the UniBol.
He went on to make 88 appearances for the club and was part of the squad that suffered relegation from the Championship in 2016.
Feeney will be aiming to help the Iron climb off the foot of the League Two table and maintain their Football League status.
Rhys Bennett
Several days ago, former Wanderers youngster Rhys Bennett left Gillingham to join Morecambe on a short-term deal.
The defender spent time in the Whites’ youth set-up but failed to make a first-team appearance for the club.
He was loaned out to Falkirk by Owen Coyle and was part of the Bairns’ Challenge Cup winning squad in 2012 before being released by Bolton.
Bennett came off the bench against Sheffield Wednesday last night and could line up against his former club at the Mazuma Stadium this weekend.
Zach Clough
Zach Clough was allowed to leave League Two side Carlisle on deadline day following interest from Australia.
Clough joined Bolton’s academy at the age of eight and scored against Wigan on his senior debut back in 2015.
The forward went on to score 22 goals in 68 games for the Whites and finished the 2015/16 season as the club’s top-scorer.
While the deal hasn’t officially been announced yet, Clough is reportedly set to join A-League side Adelaide United.
