A FIVE-mile charity trail run was organised by Bromley Cross man Matt Smith to raise money for Bolton Hospice.

Smithy’s Charity Trail Run 2022 set off from Egerton Cricket Club.

Organiser Matt said he wanted to raise funds for the hospice after his dad passed away from Motor Neurone Disease four years ago and spent the final six months of his life at the hospice.

Matt said: “The aim of the race is to get as many people involved as possible, so it doesn’t matter what your fitness levels are, this is about raising money for Bolton Hospice.”

Thanks to the support of all those taking part on the day, battling the wind, rain and even snow. The event was a huge success and raised an amazing total of £3,500 for Bolton Hospice.

Matt added: “I just want to thank everyone for braving the conditions on the day and coming together to raise as much money as possible for Bolton Hospice, and I hope to see them all again next year for another Smithy’s Trail Run.”

Kathryn Willett, fundraiser at the hospice said: “Everyone looks like they had a fantastic time taking part in Smithy’s Trail Run. We know how much the hospice means to Matt and his family, and his fundraising and support means to the world to our team, patients and their loved ones. The £3,500 raised could pay for eight patients to stay a night at Bolton Hospice.”
