THE full line-up has been revealed for a two-day rock festival which will be returning to Bolton this summer.
The Right to Roam festival first came to the town centre last year featuring headliner Maxine Peake, who performed with Eccentronic Research Council, singer James Holt and indie rockers Beans on Toast.
This year the festival will take place on July 8 and 9 featuring headliners The Lottery Winners, who released their top 10 album Something to Leave the House For last month, and will be staged across The Market Place, The Vaults V5, the Octagon Theatre and The Alma Inn on Bradshawgate.
Festival co-founder Matt Carr said: “We’re really looking forward to this year.
“Last year’s festival was brilliant, however with the pandemic and public health guidance we had to make changes and be adaptable in terms of seating and other measures.
“This year, we hope that music lovers across Bolton and further afield can come together and enjoy themselves to the fullest.”
The Right to Roam festival is named after the Winter Hill Trespass of 1896, which saw thousands of Bolton people march over Winter Hill to reclaim a right of way which they said had been illegally blocked by the landowner.
The 21st century festival hopes to recapture some of the spirit of that historic occasion with last year’s inaugural headliner Maxine Peake a leading supporter of the campaign to commemorate the Winter Hill Trespass.
This July, along with the headliners, the second annual festival will feature artist Jane Weaver and singer-songwriter Will Varley along with JOHN, The Jade Assembly and Janus Stark.
Mr Carr said: “Our team has worked hard to put together a lineup that not only spotlights some of the amazing creatives that live in Bolton but will also bring top talent from around the country.
“We have a truly diverse lineup that will make for a memorable experience.”
The festival is sponsored by a range of both local and national organisations including the Arts Council England, Impression, Flux, Rockit Bolton and Carr’s Pasties. Tickets are now on sale. To find out more go online to www.righttoroambolton.com
