HARTLEPOOL United boss Graeme Lee insists he will be putting out a team he feels is capable of winning ahead of their Papa John’s Trophy last 16 clash with Wanderers.
The Monkey Hangers reached this stage following a comfortable 3-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday thanks to goals from Mark Shelton and Will Goodwin, plus a Jaden Brown own goal.
Lee – who took charge at the Suit Direct Stadium last month - is determined to go far in the competition but says his side need to be more ruthless in front of goal.
"We want to win the games. We will be putting a team out to win each game,” he told the Hartlepool Mail.
"We have enough in the squad to cause anyone problems."
Lee’s men were held to a goalless draw against Oldham over the weekend, despite hitting the woodwork three times.
However, the Hartlepool boss felt there were positives to take from his side’s performance against the Latics.
He added: "The movement and the runs and getting into the areas, we had a bit more belief, that aspect was pleasing.
"At times sometimes when it doesn't go right for us, we have a bit of a wobble, we can get shaken up and lose a bit of discipline and we have to be better than that and organise it quickly.
"Second half, they were getting out a bit from midfield, we tried to get the message on and the lads on the pitch organised it as well, which was good.
"There were some pleasing aspects, the first 25 minutes of the game and how we got into the areas but we need to finish teams off."
The Monkey Hangars have been dealt a blow ahead of Tuesday night’s game, with Millwall opting to recall on-loan forward Tyler Burey.
The youngster had only returned to the squad on Boxing Day following a spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Forward Jordan Cook is also a doubt after suffering a thigh injury against Oldham.
