A CHARITY received a generous donation of Christmas gifts for the Royal Bolton Hospital’s children’s ward.
Our Bolton NHS Charity was given an array of gifts including chocolates, soft toys and iPads from a local gaming YouTuber phenomena and his family as a thank you for the excellent care their son received when he was a patient on the ward.
CodeNamePizza, as he’s known on his YouTube channel, asked his 900k followers to help do something nice for the kids on the ward this Christmas.
He created 100 charity cards that were purchased by people from all over the world and the funds raised were used to purchase the iPads and toys.
“We just wanted to show our appreciation for the great care our son received when he was on the children’s ward at the Bolton Hospital,” said a spokesman. “Everyone was so wonderful to him, and us, and we wanted to give something back.”
Rachel Chadwick, hospital playworker, said: “We can’t believe their generosity, they are such a lovely family and we know that everyone on the ward will really appreciate the wonderful gifts this Christmas. We are especially taken aback by the seven iPads, which will be so helpful on the ward by helping the children communicate with family members and friends who aren’t able to visit.
“They will also be used in our outpatient department to provide the children with a distraction and help ease the stress of undergoing blood tests or other procedures. We can’t thank them enough.”
The charity is the official charity partner of Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and aims to go above and beyond what the NHS can provide so patients receive the standard of care they would want for themselves, their families and friends, including investing in the latest technology and research; and making ward improvements.
