Police were called to Lincoln Road, Bolton, after reports that 41-year-old Mr George had been stabbed at 8.40pm on the Saturday.
He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition with serious injuries.
The stabbing came just two hours after reports of another stabbing on Battenberg Road in which 25-year-old Tyrone Williamson died.
A murder investigation is underway into his death and police, who are trying to piece together events of that evening, would like to hear from anyone with information.
