IT has been another tough year for the hospitality sector with the pandemic and we have continued to put the spotlight on local pub venues in our ‘Pub of the Week’ feature.
This time we have gone back into Bolton to speak to the landlady of The Balmoral Hotel about their love for the job and industry.
Name of the pub:
The Balmoral Hotel
Address of the pub:
94 Bradshawgate
Landlord/landlady name:
Donna Mills
How long have you been the landlord/landlady for?
Since November 10, 2020
Bar staff and their names:
Vikki Fisher, Emma Moore-Haworth and Louise Burgess
Give us some history about the pub:
Owned by Craft Union since 2019 and now very open plan where as before it was separate rooms and very confined.
We have brilliant customers that treat this as their home. Also, its one big family in here, we help each other and always do our beat to help in the community. We are currently running a Secret Santa appeal where we’re filling a sack to deliver to Bolton Hospice and Salvation Army on Christmas Eve..
It felt amazing!! We took over during Bolton’s lockdown last year so we were very excited to open! It was new for us and took some adapting but we worked it well with our customers that came here before lockdown with the restrictions. It’s ace.

No
Is there a beer garden?
No
Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams?
No

Have you faced any challenges within the industry?
No
The best thing about running a pub is...
Watching people enjoying themselves having a good time, making memories knowing its down to you and your venue
The worst thing about running a pub is...
Being on this side if the bar! Haha
The perfect hangover cure is...
Another drink in the Balmoral
