OVER Hulton is set to bloom next year after the Green Crew stepped in to make the area an even more attractive place to live.
For the past three years, volunteers have created at 300 metre long, one metre wide daffodil display by planing more than 2,000 bulbs.
Now that same area is set to flower throughout the year, long after the daffodils have long their spring splendour – for a wildflower garden will start to blossom.
The Green Crew have laid the roots for the wildflower garden.
The Leigh based group, works with adults to support them, some who have additional needs, via horticultural activities.
John Bullen, of the Over Hulton Community Group, said: "We have been trying to create a summer wildflower display for some time now but it is such a big project being over 300 metres.
"Then we heard of the Green Crew, contacted them, they came along to have a look and said they would take in on.
"And wow, they have done the whole thing. They have planned it, worked out the requirements, cut back, mown and scarified it then planted the seed.
"What an amazing bunch of people and they have over 110 gardening projects that they look after."
He added: "We just can't wait for next summer to see what it is going to look like.
"By way of a 'thank you' we took them down to the pride of our village, Milkmaids ice cream parlour, and told them they could have the cone of their choice."
they could have the cone of their choice! I have never seen such grateful faces!"
