THE winners of this year's The Bolton News Education Awards 2021 have been revealed.
We rolled out the virtual red carpet last night to celebrate the outstanding work schools in Bolton do — especially during these most difficult of years.
Granada News journalist Elaine Willcox announced the 13 winners during an online ceremony.
In a break from the traditional format, the winners were revealed live on the night adding to the excitement.
In an emotional tribute to one of Bolton's most respected education leaders, Jack Hatch, who died at the age of 74 in September, was posthumously awarded Lifetime Achievement.
The winners are:
n Primary School of the Year: Church Road Primary, Smithills
n Secondary School of the Year: Canon Slade School, Bradshaw
n Secondary School Pupil of the Year: Helena Flanagan
n Primary School Pupil of the Year: Korey Dobson
n Head Teacher of the Year: Martin Knowles of Essa Academy
n Secondary School Teacher of the Year: Mrs Harris, St Joseph's RC High School
n Primary School Teacher of the Year: Andrew Lawson of St Bede CE Primary Academy
n Lifetime Achievement Award: the late Jack Hatch of St Bede CE Primary Academy
n Digital Innovation Award: Bolton School boys' division
n New Teacher of the Year: Oliver Davenport of St Bede CE Primary Academy
n Teaching Assistant of the Year: Karoline Poplawska of Tonge Moor Primary Academy
n Early Years Education Award: Grosvenor Nursery and Daycare
n Support Worker of the Year: Miss Jackson of Kearsley Academy
A special supplement on the award ceremony will be published in The Bolton News on Thursday, November 25.
