VOLUNTEERS will be on hand to help shoppers get Christmas all wrapped up.

For Fortalice's Christmas 'wrappers' are back this year – in time for Black Friday and in the run up to Christmas.

Gene Spurr and her team of expert wrappers will be at the Market Place Shopping Centre from November 27, between 10am to 4pm, all the way through until Christmas eve.

Their efforts over the years have raised £116,144 for the Bolton charity, which provides refuge for women and children who have been affected by domestic violence.

Last year the team were unable to provide the service due to coronavirus.

Gill Smallwood, Chief Executive of Fortalice, said: “We have all gone through such a tough time due to Covid and it is wonderful to see our Christmas wrappers working safely back in the Market place.

“I would like to thank everyone involved especially Gene and the Market Place for helping to make this happen, the dedication from everyone who helps us, is amazing."

She added: “A huge thank you to all who are able to support us, you make such a difference to the victims we work with.”

Fortalice provides frontline services for people who are, or have been, affected by domestic abuse and violence.

Their support includes refuge accommodation, local community services, education and accredited training for professionals.

Shoppers who need some gifts wrapping for loved ones this Christmas, visit the two wrapping stations, both located on the ground floor of the Market Place.

A spokesperson for Fortalice said: "All of the money raised supports local victims of domestic abuse."Gene works tirelessly organising more than 100 volunteers and dedicating her time throughout the whole of December at the Market Place.

"So please do show your support."
