WANDERERS defender Declan John is determined to force his way back into the Wales picture.
The defender has been capped seven times by his country, having made his international debut at the age of 18 under Chris Coleman.
John – who came through the ranks at Cardiff City - is one of five Welsh players in the Bolton squad, along with MJ Williams, Gethin Jones, Josh Sheehan and Lloyd Isgrove.
Sheehan featured for Rob Page’s men earlier this season, coming on as a second-half substitute in a friendly against Finland in Helsinki.
And John is hopeful there could be several Wanderers players involved in the Wales squad down the line.
“I can only control what goes on here,” said the defender. “I can’t really control who gets picked and stuff like that.
“Josh has done really well, especially over the last season or two, to get called up for that.
“And I think there’s a few Welsh boys who wouldn’t mind getting a call-up, but you can only wait and see what happens.
“There’s a couple of us in there, but we’re all looking forward to being involved in the camps in the near future.”
John was forced off at half-time against Stockport County in the FA Cup over the weekend due to chest pains, having suffered from a non-Covid related illness in the build-up to the game.
It is a blow for the Welshman, who only recently returned from a spell on the sidelines due to a groin injury.
