Warning: Disturbing footage
A local wildlife organisation captured the moment a Sparrow Hawk attacked a pigeon in one of the busiest locations in the town centre yesterday.
Bolton NEWT took the footage outside the bus interchange on Newport Street with the hawk stuggling with the pigeon before the pigeon becomes lifeless.
The group have warned that, despite this being disturbing to watch for any onlookers, people should not intervene.
A representative told The Bolton News: "It's not pleasant for the pigeon but that's nature.
"The worse thing anyone can do is intervene, not only do they stop a bird of prey feeding but they guarantee it will go kill another pigeon while that one dies slowly of infection."
