A patient was taken to hospital this afternoon due to an incident in Halliwell.
Emergency services were called just before two about an incident on Raphael Street off Shepherds Cross Street.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 13:52 and we sent a rapid response vehicle, ambulance and air ambulance.
"We took one patient to hospital via road ambulance."
Eyewitnesses said the air ambulance landed on Elgin Street Park, and took off again with no one inside.
Police have been approached for a comment.
