A man was taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning after a crash.
Chorley New Road was closed both ways due to an accident between Links Road and the Bolton Golf Club turn-off.
Emergency services were called around 3.40am to the crash with the car careering off the road into bushes on the side of the road.
The car has now been removed but there is still debris, including smashed glass, and the crash has caused a large gap in the bushes.
The fire service said they had to remove a door from a car in order to let the driver out of the car.
The man was taken to hospital with chest and rib injuries which are thought to be non-life threatening.
A GMP spokesman said: "Officers were called to reports a car had crashed on Chorley New Road, Bolton, at about 3:40am today (26 August).
"NWAS and GMFRS also attended after the BMW left the road near the golf club.
"The male driver was taken to hospital with chest and rib injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening."
A resident from Lostock Park Drive said himself and his wife were awoken to screeches and a loud thud, but they presumed it was wildlife.
He said: “I woke up around the time 3:40am, hearing sort of screeches and heard a thud. My wife originally thought it was wildlife and someone had tried to avoid it and then we saw the car this morning and we realised it was a bit more than wildlife.
“The emergency services came just before four, I think, I can’t really add much more to it because we can’t really see over there from our house.”
The resident went onto say that he “definitely heard it” and the lady who lives a few doors up also heard it.
He said: “The lady a few doors up heard it as well, which is further away from the main road, so I don’t know what kind of speed they were doing.
“There is a speeding issue here because a lot of people just fly down the road. Plenty of people come down this road doing 40, 50 or 60 miles per hour and you can tell that people just take advantage of the long road.
“It’s a residential street after all and in both directions, it’s just houses and a golf club, but people don’t treat it like that.”
