One hundred and 14 entries have been received for the traditional curtain raiser of the Flat season, the William Hill Lincoln.
Wiliam Haggas' prolific four-yearold Mutajarred has been installed as the sponsors 11-1 favourite for the 2008 running of the William Hill Lincoln on Saturday, March 22.
Lang Shining, also a four year old, for Sir Michael Stoute is the second favourite at 12-1 and Peter Chapple-Hyam's Don't Panic, John Gosden's Escape Route and Zaahid for Barry Hills are all at 14-1.
Hills spokeswoman Jennie Prest said: "Mutajarred has 'danger' written all over him as far as bookies are concerned. His three victories last year puts him down as the progressive type that excel in the William Hill Lincoln, whilst Sir Michael Stoute's entries always merit respect and punters may well latch on Lang Shining back over the mile trip."
Also among the entries are the first three home in 2007 - winner Very Wise, priced a 16-1 shot for a repeat victory in 2008, the second placed Rio Riva (25-1) and third Mutawaffer (25-1) as well as 2006 hero Blythe Knight, who trainer John Quinn has been successfully campaigning both on the Flat and over hurdles since, quoted at 20-1.
Back at its usual home of Doncaster Racecourse after visiting both Redcar and Newcastle while the Town Moor course was being renovated, the William Hill Lincoln always kicks off the new Flat season in style and as well as the £125,000 class 2 handicap feature race over the straight mile, the day also features the consolation William Hill Spring Mile, the williamhillpoker.com Brocklesby for two year olds and the listed williamhill.co.uk Cammidge Trophy.
