A CEMENT mixers firm boss in Bolton has been named an export champion by the Department for International Trade.
Phil Winnington, of Farnworth-based Winget, which sells cement mixers and dumper trucks overseas, has joined a select band.
The company has been going for more than 100 years and moved to the borough in 1991, with customers from the Caribbean to the Americas.
Mr Winnington, the Plodder Lane firm's commercial managing director, said: "I am really proud to have been appointed as a DIT Northern Powerhouse Export Champion in 2021 and help fly the flag for British construction equipment manufacturers here in the north west
“It seems fitting that in the 30th Anniversary year of Winget’s manufacturing facility in Greater Manchester, we’ve been recognised for our passion to increase export sales and help encourage other companies to grow their international business through exporting.”
Export champions are usually the leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises with expertise in foreign markets, who are willing to pass on their skills.
International Trade Secretary Liz Truss said: "I am delighted Phil has joined our export champion community and will play a crucial part in getting more businesses selling top-quality British goods and services across the world.
"They have incredible passion for seeing British businesses thrive and are keen to pass on their knowledge and expertise to others."
