A FOOTBALL belonging to the son of former Bolton Wanderers striker Garry Jones has been stolen.
The ball had been awarded to Mr Jones after scoring a hat trick for against Manchester City on October 5 1971.
Mr Jones' son Tom said the theft occurred while he was attending the birth of his new baby daughter.
He said: "After England winning on Wednesday night, I took my wife to hospital for her to deliver our new baby daughter in the early hours of Thursday morning.
"I brought her home today to realise my late dad Garry Jones hat trick ball from Bolton vs man city 1971 League Cup game has been stolen by some scumbag.
"What had been a great couple of days has been made less so.
"Please share, I’m hoping we can get it back, worthless to anyone else but priceless to my family."
Dave Masterman, a friend of the late Mr Jones' son and head of content at Audio Always, also reported the theft on social media this evening.

Mr Masterman has appealed for people to spread awareness about the theft and for anyone with any information to come forward to police.
