ROYAL Bolton Hospital’s beautiful baby memorial garden was ‘yarn bombed’ with gifts left for families and staff to take home.
The close-knit Busy Bees community created woollen gifts through lockdown to help raise funds for future maintenance and events in the garden precious to families who have suffered the loss of a little one.
Catherine Binns, Deputy Head Chaplain said: “Each life is a gift, no matter how short, no matter how fragile, to be held in our hearts forever.
“The creation of the baby memorial garden was made possible thanks to the support, hard work and fundraising efforts of volunteers from local voluntary and community groups, local businesses and staff from Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.”
The group has plans for other craft events in the future, including The Wave of Light service in November, and at Christmas.
The baby memorial garden was officially opened in 2017 and honours all babies who have died during pregnancy, during birth or in the months after birth.
The garden provides a tranquil and beautiful space where parents can go to reflect and remember your baby. It offers seating and at its centre is a specially commissioned, commemorative sculpture.
