MANCHESTER has beat out every city and town in the UK to be named as the UK top spot for marital affairs.
Whether locals are sick of lockdown or simply aren’t getting enough passion with their spouse, they’ve helped Manchester retain their infamous title.
The data comes from Ashley Madison, a discreet social networking service aimed at people who are married or in relationships.
It looks at active sign-ups to the site found that people from Manchester were their most popular joiners during lockdown.
Norwich came in at second- climbing 19 places in the space of a year.
Luton is a new entry in the chart, coming in third.
On the south coast in Brighton adulterous husbands and wives appear to have either patched things up with their spouse or possibly lost interest in sex. 'The Queen of Watering Places 'has dropped from number 2 last year, to being off the list completely this year.
Newcastle has also cleaned up its act, moving from 3rd to 8th place.
Christoph Kraemer, Ashley Madison’s European director said: “After a year of social distancing and isolation, people are looking forward to a summer of love.
“The pandemic, however, has shown that all too often this love is absent from the marriage bed. Therefore, it is not surprising that more and more people are looking for an affair.
“The likelihood of finding an affair partner may become an important reason why people choose their holiday destination this summer. The cities on this list should consider targeting cheaters for their tourism campaigns.”
Here are the top 20 adultery hotspots in the UK, according to the Ashley Madison data:
- Manchester
- Norwich
- Luton
- Nottingham
- Aberdeen
- Leeds
- Southampton
- Newcastle-upon-Tyne
