A BUDDING young chef who caught the eye of Jamie Oliver is celebrating one year of showing off his culinary skills on social media.
Rocco Green, 11, from Radcliffe, has been whipping up a vast range of exciting and tasty dishes since first trying his hand earlier last year.
Since starting his Instagram page, Rocco has racked up close to 5,000 followers, who join him for tips, advice and live cooking tutorials.
Aided by mum Sara, Rocco has impressed a range of celebrity chefs as he builds his following and edges nearer to a dream career as a chef.
She said: "He has been absolutely loving it and he has done loads over the last year. He has been inspiring other kids to cook through live videos and things like that and I think lockdown did help boost that, as he has had more time to do those sorts of things.
"He joined Jamie Oliver's cooking buddies group last year, where Jamie gives tips to people online and he still comments on Rocco's Instagram stories to say well done and give him advice. He's a really nice guy and he really has helped."
In addition to Jamie Oliver, Gregg Wallace, private celebrity chef Nisha Parmar and several other cooking personalities follow the youngster.
Rocco counts Italian food and chicken dishes among his favourite things to cook, taking that love on board a small business venture which he launched.
Rocco's Dipping Doughballs, which he has sold at several artisan fairs and foodies markets, has become a hit with customers.
Sara said that Rocco has taken his new entrepreneurial venture in his stride and is loving watching his following grow.
She added: "When he did his last food order, he was in the kitchen all day and that is obviously a lot of time to be in the kitchen. But he just loves it and I was getting a little stressed about things but he was just so chilled with it.
"He just really wants to see how far he can get with it and he's already doing so well - he's only young so it's amazing to think where he might be in a few years' time."
